On-again-off-again Oshawa pier closed once more

Oshawa pier has been temporarily closed for inspection, according to a notice by the City of Oshawa.

The on-again-off-again pier had reopened on May 11 after recent repairs had to be made. Oshawa pier was closed last year too after damage to a pole, and in 2021 after a vessel hit (see below).

The pier is anticipated to reopen on Thursday, June 1, once the inspection is complete.

“Community members are advised that the pier at the Oshawa waterfront is closed to enable the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA) to conduct an underwater inspection of the pier,” said a city statement.

It reminded community members to respect the posted signage and not enter the water.
