The vacant Target store property in Bowmanville, Clarington, has been leased for a new Go-kart attraction, according to the municipality.
Occupying over 112,000 sqft, Volt Raceway will house two tracks designed to cater to speed enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. With a combined track length of 800 meters, Volt Raceway will offer one of the longest indoor karting experiences in North America, said Invest Clarington.
It said Clarington Economic Development staff worked closely with ICI Realtor, Chris Tyrovolas, property owners Valiant Group, and the founders of Volt Raceway to bring their indoor electric go-karting facility to the Clarington Shopping Centre.
It forecast that when the raceway opens in mid-2024, the facility will support Clarington’s local economy by creating approximately 60 jobs, attracting visitor spending, fostering collaboration with local businesses, and promoting youth engagement and development.
The addition of a new Go-kart track in Bowmanville also adds to Clarington’s reputation in motorsports and enhances the diversity of racing experiences, attracting enthusiasts and visitors alike, it added.
Clarington also hosts the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
