The City of Oshawa has passed By-law 82-2025, introducing a number of amendments to Zoning By-law 60-94.
The by-law, approved by council on June 26, brings forward a series of city-initiated changes aimed at supporting future growth and updating local planning rules.
Key changes include:
- Requiring a minimum 800-metre separation between payday loan establishments, tattoo parlours, pawn shops, vapour product shops, social service establishments, and adult use stores.
- Revising regulations and site-specific maps for properties between 419 and 507 King Street West to support high-rise, mixed-use development along the future Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit corridor.
- Exempting provincially approved or operated social service establishments from the new separation rule.
- Adding the Urban Growth Centre (UGC) Zone to the list of zones where public authorities and certain agencies can build or use land, provided specific design criteria are met.
