Two outdoor skating rinks open from today

Oshawa is opening outdoor skating rinks from today (Friday, February 3), according to a city announcement.

The rinks are located at Delpark Homes Centre (1661 Harmony Road North), and Stone Street Park adjacent to the South Oshawa Community Centre (1455 Cedar Street).

The natural outdoor rinks will operate within the following hours:

  • Delpark Homes Centre: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 10 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 9 pm.
  • South Oshawa Community Centre: Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 9 pm.

The city said weather conditions may result in modified hours of operation or temporary closures. To stay informed of outdoor rink closures or modified hours of operation, community members are encouraged to subscribe to Facility, Parks and Program Updates for email updates.

When visiting out outdoor rinks, community members are reminded that:

  • Rinks will have scheduled times for public skating, stick and puck and shinny
  • Visitors are asked to follow all posted signage
  • Benches are located next to the rinks for skaters to put on skates and helmets
  • Only persons wearing skates or sledges are permitted on the ice
  • CSA approved hockey helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters
  • Rinks are monitored hourly by City of Oshawa staff. Report any concerns to the Delpark Homes Centre by calling 905-436-5455 or to the South Oshawa Community Centre by calling 905-436-5474
  • Washrooms are available at the Delpark Homes Centre and South Oshawa Community Centre during regular operating hours
