The City of Oshawa is mourning the loss of former Mayor Allan Mason, with Mayor Dan Carter and Oshawa city council extending their deepest condolences to the Mason family.
“Allan was a devoted and involved resident who not only volunteered his time but also dedicated nearly a decade to serving our community as a member of council,” said Mayor Carter. “Our flags have been lowered to honour his service to our great city.”
Allan Mason was first elected to Oshawa council in 1986 and served as a regional and city councillor from 1986 to 1990. He held the role of Mayor of Oshawa from 1990 to November 1991 and later served as a city councillor from 1994 to 1997.
Known for his commitment to community service, Mason was also the past President and a lifetime member of the Kinsmen Club of Oshawa.
Flags at Oshawa city hall have been lowered to half-mast in memory of former Mayor Mason. A book of condolences is available on the city’s website for residents who wish to share their messages of sympathy.
