Durham Regional Police are investigating a road rage incident in Oshawa that escalated into gunfire.
According to police, on Saturday, July 5, at about 7:30 pm, officers from Central East Division responded to reports of an armed person in the area of Rossland Road East and Wilson Road North.
The victim was driving on Wilson Road North when a dark-coloured SUV began tailgating them and motioning for them to speed up. When the victim entered a turning lane, the suspect pulled up beside them and allegedly issued threats. A verbal altercation followed, after which the victim heard a loud bang and the driver’s side window shattered.
The suspect fled the area westbound on Rossland Road East before officers arrived. Upon investigation, police found a single bullet inside the victim’s vehicle. No physical injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a Black male, about 20 years old, driving a dark-coloured older model Dodge Journey.
