Pedestrian serious after being struck, driver remains

A 31-year-old male suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in Ajax on Wednesday evening.

On December 14 at around 7:50 pm, officers from West Division responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Kingston Road, near Salem Road. A white Honda Civic was travelling eastbound on Kingston Road when it struck a male pedestrian attempting to cross the roadway. The pedestrian was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre. The male pedestrian is currently listed in serious condition, said a police statement.

The 32-year-old driver of the involved Honda remained on scene and was not physically injured in the collision.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
