Pickering gets proposal for 14-tower, 5,264-unit development

The City of Pickering has received a proposal for a 14-tower, 5,264 residential unit development on Kingston Road.

According to the city, the proposal, submitted by Tribute (Brookdale) Limited, includes five phases with a total of 5 buildings containing 14 towers ranging from 17 to 35 storeys. The project would introduce 5,264 apartment units, 6,585 square metres of commercial space, a 0.8-hectare public park to be conveyed to the city, 0.5 hectares of privately-owned publicly accessible spaces, and two new public roads.

The applicant has submitted an Official Plan Amendment (OPA 24-002P) seeking to increase the maximum permitted Floor Space Index (FSI) from 2.5 to 5 and remove the cap on net residential density, while also permitting additional high-density residential uses. A Zoning By-law Amendment (A 02-24) has also been proposed to rezone the site and establish development standards.

The city has scheduled a public meeting to review an information report regarding the proposed high-density, mixed-use development at 1101A, 1105, and 1163 Kingston Road, known as the Brookdale Centre. The meeting is on April 22.

City officials stated that the public meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the proposal and submit feedback before any decisions are made. The information report will be available on the city’s website at events.pickering.ca/council on or after April 10.
