The City of Pickering is bringing back Petapolooza, one of its largest and most beloved outdoor events, on Saturday, May 10. The event will run from 10 am to 5 pm at Esplanade Park, in partnership with presenting sponsor Pet Valu.
Petapolooza provides an opportunity for pet owners, animal enthusiasts, industry professionals, and rescue groups to come together for a day filled with pet-friendly activities and entertainment. This year’s event will feature over 75 exhibitors, live performances by the SuperDogs, an amateur pet talent show, and a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog.
New this year is the ‘Stuffy Pet Hospital’, where children can bring their favourite stuffed animals for a pretend check-up. “We are thrilled to introduce a new addition to Petapolooza,” said Lindsey Narraway, Supervisor of Animal Services for the City of Pickering. “Bring your favorite stuffed toy for a thorough health exam and learn how to properly care for your pet.”
Other highlights include a lure course, pawprint art, caricature artist, temporary pet tattoos, food trucks, and more. Early attendees will receive a complimentary swag bag while supplies last.
Petapolooza is Pickering Animal Services’ largest fundraiser of the year. In 2024, the event raised just over $40,000, and the city hopes to exceed that total in 2025. All donations will go toward the development of a new Animal Shelter in Pickering.
Voluntary donations of $5.00 will be accepted at the event. Admission is free for seniors (55+), children under 12, and pets.
