Durham police is investigating a serious collision in Oshawa that left an elderly woman with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a school bus.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2:45 pm on Wednesday, April 23, at the intersection of Simcoe Street South and Mill Street. Officers from Central East Division responded after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been hit while crossing the road.
A 68-year-old woman was transported to a Toronto trauma centre with critical injuries. No one on the school bus was hurt, and police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The DRPS Collision Investigations Unit was called in to examine the scene. Roads in the area were closed for several hours as officers gathered evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
