The Region of Durham is undertaking several roadwork projects, including a possible new roundabout this spring, which lead to road restrictions and an impact on traffic flows.
Island Road in Scugog: Durham Region is advising residents of lane restrictions on Island Road (Regional Road 7) in the Township of Scugog from today (May 19) until June.
Lane restrictions will be in place on Island Road from Fralicks Beach Road to Hood Drive to safely rehabilitate the road.
Shirley Road in Scugog: There are lane restrictions on Shirley Road (Regional Road 19) in the Township of Scugog until the end of May.
These start 50 metres west of Old Scugog Road to 35 metres west of Regional Road 57 and are to safely complete road rehabilitation.
There are also lane restrictions on Regional Road 57 in the Township of Scugog until the end of July.
These are 70 metres south of Shirley Road (Regional Road 19) to 700 metres north of Edgerton Road, and are to safely repave Regional Road 57, along with the construction of new road shoulders and replacement of steel guide rails.
New roundabout in Uxbridge: Residents of Uxbridge are invited to weigh in with their thoughts about a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Brock Road (Regional Road 1) and Goodwood Road (Regional Road 21).
The public information package with the project background and preliminary design can be reviewed at the Durham website.
The project includes converting the intersection into a roundabout and adding an eastbound truck climbing lane. These improvements are anticipated to enhance long-term traffic flow, reduce delays and improve safety for all road users.

Lane restrictions are in place from Carnwith Drive East to Baldwin Street North, to safely install a watermain in support of new development.

The section closed off is from Bloor Street (Regional Road 22) to 585 metres north of Baseline Road West in Courtice.
Access to Courtice Road for local residents will be maintained. Detour routes are posted. Businesses will remain open for the duration of construction.
