Rumours of threats against school unfounded: DRPS

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday denied rumours of threats against a school in Oshawa.

“We were made aware of some rumours circulating on social media today regarding some threats made involving an Oshawa school,” said a DRPS tweet yesterday.

“The incident was investigated by our school liaison officer, and found not to be substantiated,” it said.

There are no safety concerns at this time, it added.

Separately, DRPS also tweeted about Oshawa road closure of the westbound lanes on Taunton Road West between Airport Boulevard and Keith Ross. “Will advise when lanes are re-opened.”

It later announced that these lanes were open again. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
