Storm Update: Salem-Hwy 401 closure postponed

The Regional Municipality of Durham has advised residents that the road closure on southbound Salem Road (Regional Road 41) in the Town of Ajax, has been postponed due to forecast of the coming winter storm.

The closure was from March 2 to 6, it said.

The closure was from Salem Road, southbound lanes only from Highway 401 to Achilles Road, in Ajax. Access to eastbound and westbound Highway 401 was to be maintained during this closure.

Why: To allow for the construction of new electrical and telecommunications infrastructure for a pending Metrolinx project. For more information, visit Metrolinx.com.

Metrolinx said the part closure is to facilitate the GO train expansion project.

It said Trans Power will be mobilizing along Salem Road at the beginning of March, with road and Highway 401 off-ramp closures necessary to complete the scheduled work.

Crews will be on site throughout the dates mentioned at variable shift times with road closures depending on what work is required. Please see the Hours of Work and Work Details below for details.
