Durham Police said a male is facing charges after fleeing from police following a collision in Ajax.
The suspect suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto-area hospital. The Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate. DRPS is fully cooperating with the SIU and cannot release further details on this incident.
A police report said on Saturday, October 19, at about 6:10 pm, members of West Division responded to a collision in the area of Rossland Road West and Ravenscroft Road.
A motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection. Following the collision, the driver of the motorcycle fled the area on foot. Officers, with the assistance of Air1 and the K9 Unit, located the driver hiding near a ravine and took him into custody.
An adult male is charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer, Leave Scene of Accident, Drive Motor Vehicle No Plates, Drive Motor Vehicle No Licence, Fail to Stop at Red Light, and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.
