The City of Pickering has announced it will hold a public consultation for a 12-tower complex of up to 43 storeys with 5,297 homes, which is proposed just off Highway 401.
The site is located at 1755 Pickering Parkway, generally bound by Brock Road to the west, Pickering Parkway to the north, Notion Road to the east, and Highway 401 to the south (see map below).
The lands are currently developed with several commercial retail establishments, including a Staples, Goodlife Fitness, Blue Sky Supermarket, and several other tenants and associated parking areas.
The city has received applications for Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment for the property, submitted by Bayfield Realty Advisors Inc. and Pickering Ridge Lands Inc.
The applicant has proposed a high-density, mixed-use residential development consisting of seven (7) buildings with 12 towers ranging in heights from 20 to 43 storeys, 5,297 residential units, and 26,103 square metres of retail/commercial space to be developed in seven phases.
The city said its Planning & Development Committee is holding a hybrid Statutory Public Meeting on Monday, November 4 at 7 pm before any decisions are made.
“Please note, this is not an approved project. This is the start of the planning process. The city is mandated to accept and process every development application it receives, and our professional staff will rigorously evaluate the merits and suitability of each application, which includes public input, the city said.
The project application is dated July 2022, according to city records. A revised application was submitted in April this year.
