Durham Police said an Oshawa man is facing impaired charges after Air1 observed a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 401.
On Wednesday, June 28 at about 10:45 pm, while on proactive patrol, DRPS’ Air1 Tactical Flight Officer observed a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 401 near Harmony Road in Oshawa.
The vehicle was driving westbound on Highway 401, at speeds of more than 160 kmh, weaving around traffic, passing vehicles using the shoulder lane and almost striking the back of a transport truck, said a police statement.
Air1 followed the vehicle as it exited Highway 401 at Ritson Road and observed the vehicle driving more than 100 kmh heading southbound on Ritson Road.
The suspect vehicle stopped at an address in the Lakeview area of Oshawa. Uniformed officers were dispatched to the address as Air1 maintained a visual on the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, officers noticed visible signs of impairment, police said.
The man, age 26, of Oshawa was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
