Serial break-and-enter suspect arrested twice

Durham Police said a male is in custody after committing a series of break and enters in a Whitby neighbourhood.

On Monday, June 26, at approximately 6:55 pm, members from Central West Division attended the area of Teresa Drive and Reynolds Street in Whitby after a resident observed an unknown male in his backyard.

Officers arrived on scene and located the male on Teresa Drive. During the investigation it was learned the male committed three separate break and enters in the same area within an hour time span. The male was arrested and released on an undertaking, said a police statement.

On Tuesday, June 27, at approximately 8:15 am, members from Central West Division attended the area of Reynolds Street and Eva Court in Whitby after receiving reports that the same male was breaking into garages and attempting to break into motor vehicles. Officers searched the area however were unable to locate the male.

On Wednesday, June 28, at approximately 2:20 am, officers were on proactive patrol in the area of Consumers Drive and Garden Street in Whitby when they located the male who had committed the break and enters the day prior. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. During the arrest the accused was found to be in possession of fentanyl.

The man, age 31 of No Fixed Address was charged and held for bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
