Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division had the westbound lanes of Highway 401 and Brock Street Whitby reopened before midday.
“Update: Traffic is moving, the closure at Thickson road is being reopened,” said the latest update.
Ramp to Brock Street will remain closed, it said earlier.
A truck had hit an overhead sign, which collapsed onto the westbound lanes of Highway 401 and Brock Street, hampering morning commute into Toronto.
Traffic was diverted via Thickson Road.
OPP advised commuters and road user to expect delays.
It also asked any witnesses to call Whitby OPP at 905-668-3388.
In an update, the OPP said the transport truck responsible for this collision has been identified. Officers are making their way to the company.
