Spreading joy and love with ‘kindness cards’

Whitby entrepreneur Brittany Darlow is reminding Durham residents that February 17th is ‘Random Act of Kindness Day!’

And to mark the day and make it meaningful she is starting a new project – I CAN kindness cards. These are aimed at spreading love and joy to people.

The founder of I.CAN.CO, Darlow, wants both kids and adults to know that they CAN do anything they want.

“I want my brand to be about more than just apparel. My goal is to make a difference in the world and I thought this would be a great start,” she says. “My dream is to have kids and/or adults write kindness cards and spread smiles everywhere. They could be sent to old age homes, the military, neighbours, family members etc.”

She says kids could write something as simple as “I hope you have a wonderful day” or “you are beautiful” or “thank you for being such a great neighbour” whatever message they would like.

“My 3 year old son and I wrote a couple of cards…and here is an example of what we wrote “I hope this kindness card puts a smile on your face. My parents are teaching me about kindness and how little gestures can go a long way.

“We are all going through these tough times together and we could all use a pick me up 😘Who doesn’t love getting a special note in the mail or left at their doorstep?” she points out.

Darlow produces apparel such as hats, toques, T-shirts and sweatshirts. For example her T-shirts say “Moving Mountains” Some of the proceeds are donated to Jumpstart.
