Durham total covid cases tally crosses 11,000

Durham Health yesterday posted 54 new Covid-19 cases for February 5, taking the region’s tally to 11,005 since the count began on February 29. Two cases are under investigation.

There were:

  • 6 new cases in Pickering
  • 21 in Ajax
  • 4 in Whitby
  • 16 in Oshawa
  • 8 in Clarington, and
  • 1 each in Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock

Recoveries stand at 10,376, up by 78. There are 342 active covid cases.

Twenty-four cases are hospitalized with 12 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 318 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of cases so far at 3,218 in Ajax.

Death Toll: Total – 287              LTCH – 215

Of the 98 reported deaths in Pickering, 86 were in LTCH
Of the 49 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTCH
Forty-four deaths were reported in Whitby, 30 in LTCH
Of the 46 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTCH
Twelve deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTCH]
24 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTCH
Fourteen deaths have been reported in Scugog, 12 in LTCH
No deaths have been reported in Brock
