Yesterday afternoon’s buffeting strong winds caused power outages across parts of Durham, according to both Elexicon Energy and Oshawa Power.
Oshawa Power reported an outage affecting parts of south and west Oshawa. Crews were dispatched to assess the issue and begin restoration efforts. “Our team is assessing the impact and will provide an updated ETR when more information is available,” it said.
Later, it said: “This afternoon’s outage was caused by a non-Oshawa Power line becoming dislodged and interfering with our primary lines.”
It said crews are working to restore power after wires were downed on Bloor Street. “Crews have restored power to all residential customers in the area. Thank you for your patience!”
Oshawa Power said: “Large commercial customers may remain without power as we work with Hydro One on further repairs.”
Elexicon Energy reported power outages on Ajax and Clarington, and the day before in Pickering,
Outage in Clarington affecting Green Road, north of Highway 401, west of Liberty Street South, and south of Jackman Road, said an Elexicon alert.
Another alert reported outage in the Town of Ajax affecting 39 to 73 Cedar Street. Investigation is in progress, Elexicon said.
On Saturday it restored an outage due to tree contact in the City of Pickering which affected Modlin Road, Helen Crescent, and Krosno Boulevard.
