It is not just the officers of Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) who help control crime in the region; its faithful – and ferocious-looking – police service dogs (PSD), also play a key part.
On Sunday, DRPS K-9 Unit announced that PSD Hawk helped take a suspect into custody – just by being there and being himself.
PC Wright, K9 Hawk and DRPS West Division teamed up to track and locate a lone male wanted for assault, it said.
The going was tough, and after a rural track through rugged terrain, K9 Hawk located the perp hiding in some thick shrubs.
The perp wisely surrendered after seeing Hawk, said the K-9 Unit.
No further details were released.
