Suspicious item led to Pickering GO footbridge closure

Durham Police yesterday said they are looking to identify a female who left a suspicious package unattended at the Pickering GO station.

On Monday, June 5 at about 4:50 pm, members from West Division attended the Pickering GO station located at 1322 Bayly Street for reports of a suspicious package.

Officers arrived on scene and located the package. The Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) was called to the area and determined it was not an explosive device, said a police report.

“The pedestrian bridge was shut down as a precaution while we investigated. After the investigation it was determined there was no concern with the package,” confirmed a police spokesperson to Durham Post.

Police are now looking for the female who is responsible for leaving the package behind.
