Swat team deployed with K9 unit, Air1 to track drunk driver

When it comes to apprehending absconding suspects, it appears the Durham Regional Police Service  (DRPS) takes no chances.

It uses all means at its disposal to “get its man” as a recent case suggests.

It appears that the Tactical Unit (our version of the Swat team) was called out along with Air1 police helicopter and the K9 Unit, to track and apprehend an absconding impaired driver.

PC Elkington, K9 Kaos, Air#1 and Tactical Support officers teamed up to locate an impaired driver who fled from a crash, said a K9 Unit report.

With Police Service Dog (PSD) Kaos closing in on the ‘fence jumping’ suspect, the driver eventually ran out of real estate and wisely surrendered to tactical officers, it added.

No further details were released.
