Thieves dash off with running car as owner goes into eatery

Two males were arrested after stealing a vehicle in Pickering.

On Sunday, February 2, at about 1:30 am, members from West Division say they responded to a restaurant in the area of Kingston Road and Valley Farm Road for a vehicle that had just been stolen. The victim left his vehicle running while he went inside the business and two males entered the vehicle and fled.

Officers reported that they were able to track the location of the vehicle and the empty vehicle was located in a parking lot in Scarborough. With the assistance of York Regional Police Service’s AIR2, the suspects were quickly located near the vehicle. The DRPS’ K9 team was deployed and both suspects were arrested, with the assistance of Toronto Police Service.

A 43-year-old, of Pickering and a 50-year-old, of No Fixed Address were both charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
