Duo face murder attempt charge for luring, ambushing victim

Durham police yesterday said a male and female are facing attempt to murder charges following an investigation in the Township of Scugog.

Investigation revealed that the victim was brought to the park by a known female. While at the park, the victim was ambushed by the known female and a suspect male who stabbed the victim several times and attempted to force him into a vehicle. The suspects fled the area after the victim was able to defend himself.

The incident took place on Wednesday, May 13 at about 9:15 pm, when members of North Division responded to an armed person call at a park in the area of Water Street and Mary Street in Port Perry. Officers arrived on scene and administered medical care after locating a male suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious life-threatening condition, where he was later upgraded to stable, police said.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, investigators located and arrested both suspects without incident in Toronto.

The male suspect, age 36 from Toronto, at the time of the incident, was on weapons prohibition conditions.

The female suspect, age 51, is also from Toronto.

Both were charged and held for a bail hearing. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.
