Traffic Update: Line painting, closures, restrictions

The City of Oshawa has announced traffic line painting is in progress at various roadways and intersections.

A statement said work will be complete during the overnight hours from May 18 to September 2.

Why: To refresh the various intersection line markings such as stop bars, crosswalks and short centerlines.

Please exercise caution when approaching line marking operation and follow all temporary condition and warning signs. Driving on fresh paint can cause damage to your vehicle and can compromise the quality of the reflective paint, said the city statement.

Road Closure in Oshawa

Glen Street north of Medina Court at Cordova Valley Park will be closed to through traffic. There will be no through access for emergency vehicles. Access to local traffic will be provided as necessary.

Temporary conditions signs will be posted in accordance with provincial standards.

  • When: from 7am Tuesday May 24 until 5:00 pm Friday May 27
  • Where: between Oxford Street and Medina Court
  • Why: to install storm sewer connection across Glen St at Cordova Valley Park

Lane restrictions in Scugog

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Scugog Line 3 and on Simcoe Street, in the Township of Scugog.

  • When: Ongoing until July 31. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Scugog Line 3 from Old Simcoe Road to Simcoe Street, and on Simcoe Street from Scugog Line 3 to 400 metres north of Scugog Line 3 in Scugog.
  • Why: To safely install a new watermain.

The municipality is also advising residents of lane restrictions on Reach Street (Regional Road 8) in the Township of Scugog.

  • When: Ongoing until August 19. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Reach Street, from east of Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) to west of Medd Road, in the Township of Scugog.
  • Why: To safely complete road rehabilitation.

Road closures, lane restrictions and trail closure

There are road closures, lane restrictions and a trail closure in the area of Lviv Boulevard and Front Street in the City of Oshawa.

  • When: Ongoing until October. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Road closures will take place on Lviv Boulevard from Albert Street to Front Street, and on Front Street from Lviv Boulevard to Third Avenue. Lane restrictions on Albert Street from Third Street to Bloor Street may occur during construction and delays should be expected. Local access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained for both road closures and lane restrictions throughout the project. Residents should also be advised that the Michael Starr Trail will be closed south of Third Street to Lviv Boulevard. A detour will be installed to re-route pedestrians and cyclists to use Third Street for the duration of the construction.
  • Why: To safely construct a new watermain on Lviv Boulevard and a new feedermain on Front Street.

Road closure on York-Durham Line in Uxbridge

The Regional Municipality of Durham announced a road closure on York-Durham Line (Regional Road 30), in the Township of Uxbridge.

  • When: Ongoing until July 19. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: York-Durham Line, from Wagg Road to Aurora Road (York Regional Road 15), in the Township of Uxbridge.
  • Why: To safely complete construction and road rehabilitation along the Island Lake shoreline on the west side of York-Durham Line.

Detour routes will be posted in advance of the closure.

Lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road in Brock

The Regional Municipality of Durham advised of lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), from north of Ravenshoe Road (York Regional Road 32) to south of Concession Road 10, in the Township of Brock.

  • When: Ongoing until August 1. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Lake Ridge Road, from north of Ravenshoe Road (York Regional Road 32) to south of Concession Road 10, in the Township of Brock.
  • Why: Road rehabilitation.

Lane Restrictions on Durham Regional Highway 2 in Newcastle

The Regional Municipality is advising also residents of lane restrictions on Durham Regional Highway 2 in Newcastle, in the Municipality of Clarington

  • When: May 25 to June 15. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
  • Where: Durham Regional Highway 2 from Cobbledick Road to Rudell Road in Newcastle.
  • Why: To safely construct a turning lane to support new development.
