Thunderstorm fells trees, causes damage, outages

A severe thunderstorm yesterday afternoon forced widespread power outages across Durham, and caused utility providers and municipal officials some headaches.

Clarington announced its crews are out on the roads again today as they continue working to clear downed trees and mark dangerous areas with orange cones and caution tape. “We ask that residents please do not remove cones or caution tape as they have been placed to protect the safety of the community.”

“There is extensive damage across Clarington, and crews will be working through the weekend to clear damage caused by the storm,” it added.
