Triforest Ajax expands with $10mn investment and 80 jobs

Durham Region and the Town of Ajax are celebrating a boost to the local manufacturing sector following the $10 million expansion of Triforest’s facility in Ajax.

The expansion—secured through the efforts of Invest Durham and Ajax’s Business Engagement and Supports Team—marks a significant achievement for advanced manufacturing in the region. The milestone was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Regional Chair and CEO John Henry, regional and local councillors, and executives from Triforest.

Triforest, a global manufacturer of laminate flooring and related products, opened its first North American plant in Ajax in 2023. The newly completed Phase II development adds four stone plastic composite (SPC) flooring production lines, with full operations now underway following trial production that began in June.

The expansion is expected to create more than 80 full-time jobs and generate about $100 million in annual output.

Despite ongoing uncertainty in U.S. trade relations and tariffs affecting the manufacturing sector, Triforest said it has already secured hundreds of container orders from U.S. clients, underscoring demand for its products and confidence in its Ajax operations.
