Two teen girls arrested in Whitby high school stabbing

Durham Police yesterday said a 14-year-old female is facing charges after assaulting a fellow student at a school in Whitby.

On Monday, September 18 at about 12:10 pm, members from Central West Division responded to Father Leo Austin Catholic School located at 1020 Dryden Boulevard in Whitby for reports of an armed person.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 14-year-old female suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to a Toronto-area hospital where she remains in stable condition. The school was placed into a brief lockdown; however, it was lifted shortly after as the suspect was located and taken into custody, said a police statement (see below).

A 14-year-old female and a 17-year old female, both from Whitby have been charged and held for a bail hearing. Further details available at www.drps.ca.
