Durham police have arrested a male suspect in connection with a double shooting that occurred Wednesday evening in Oshawa (see below).
According to police, officers from Central East Division responded to reports of an armed person near John Street West and Simcoe Street South at around 7:10 pm on May 14. Upon arrival, they found an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the hip. He was transported to a Toronto-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly afterward, police were notified by a local hospital that a second male, aged 16, had arrived with a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigators confirmed he was also injured during the same incident. His injuries are also considered non-life-threatening.
Police say the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. However, he was located about 15 minutes later at a nearby construction site and arrested without incident.
A 19-year-old male, from Oshawa, was charged. Police did not say whether the suspect was held for bail or released for an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
