Final Pickering tax rise is 5.35%, payment deadlines extended

The City of Pickering has approved the final 2025 property tax rates needed to fund the 2025 Current Budget, as well as taxes for local School Boards and the Region of Durham.

According to Pickering, the approved budget includes a property tax levy increase of 3.75 per cent over last year, which results in a 1.15 per cent increase in the city’s portion of the average residential property tax bill.

When combined with regional and school board levies, the total average increase for residential property owners is 5.35 per cent.

Pickering said that the final property tax due dates have been set for July 29 and October 29, providing property owners with an additional month compared to previous years to pay without late penalties or interest. This change excludes Payment in Lieu properties.
