Pickering’s 2025 budget proposes a levy of 3.75%

The City of Pickering is proposing a tax levy of 3.75 per cent in its 2025 budget. The levy had stood at 3.99 per cent for 2024.

In comparison, Oshawa plans a 7.87 per cent tax hike in 2025, Whitby has set its budget with 3.99 per cent tax increase, while Durham Regional Council has capped 2025 property tax rise at just below 5 per cent (see below).

“We’re advancing a number of key projects and initiatives, and I share in your excitement in seeing these dynamic plans come to life,” said Mayor Kevin Ashe in his introduction to the 2025 budget.

Pickering’s Strategic Plan sets out 23 areas of Strategic Focus and 88 Specific Actions.

The city has also prepared an 9-year Capital Budget forecast to “responsibly plan its future and guide the city’s infrastructure investments” over the long term.
