Bethesda House has announced the return of its annual Walk A Mile fundraiser, a community event aimed at supporting survivors of gender-based violence. The family-friendly walk will take place on Saturday, June 21, from 10 am to 1 pm at Rotary Park (192 Queen Street, Bowmanville.
Walk A Mile is more than just a fundraising walk—it’s a visible show of solidarity and a call to action against gender-based violence. Funds raised through the event will support Bethesda House programs, including emergency shelter services, outreach, and advocacy for survivors.
The event kicks off with opening remarks at 10 am, followed by the walk at 10:30 am. From 11:15 am until 1 pm, attendees can enjoy free pizza, snacks, refreshments, and a variety of family-friendly activities including games, contests, and face painting.
“This year, we’re inviting everyone to wear red shoes in any style—heels, sneakers, boots, or flats—as a statement that no one walks this path alone,” said Riley Spigarelli, Executive Director of Bethesda House. “Every red step is a step toward justice, awareness, and healing.”
Participants of all ages are welcome, and families are encouraged to take part in the event’s engaging activities while learning about community efforts to end violence.
Funds raised from Walk A Mile will directly support individuals and families fleeing abuse, helping them find safety and rebuild their lives.
