Vibrant mural pays tribute to late Molly, the fire safety dog

A new mural, titled ‘Molly’s Way’, has been unveiled on the side of the Station No. 3 condominium building in Downtown Whitby. This 60-foot-wide, 28-foot-tall artwork pays homage to the building’s history as a former fire hall and to Molly, a beloved fire safety education dog.

Molly, a Dalmatian, served the Whitby Fire Department for 12 years, educating the community on fire safety. Her friendly demeanor and dedication made her a beloved figure in the town. Sadly, Molly passed away in March, the town said.

The mural, commissioned by Brookfield Residential, is a vibrant and colorful piece that captures the spirit of Molly and the fire department. It features a playful Dalmatian swimming through a colorful cityscape, symbolizing Molly’s energetic and joyful personality.

“Molly’s Way embodies the spirit of community service and inspires us to continue to strive for safety and well-being,” said Marc Thibault, Senior Vice President of Brookfield Residential. “We hope this mural serves as a lasting tribute to Molly and a source of inspiration for future generations.”

The mural is part of Whitby’s Art Trail, a collection of public art pieces that enhance the town’s cultural landscape. It’s a testament to the town’s commitment to celebrating its history and fostering creativity.
