Which slots are popular in Ontario?

If you’re in Ontario, you have loads of choices when it comes to entertainment.

Whether you love live bands, farmers’ markets, vineyards, race cars, or nightclubs, this province has you covered.

However, if you’re more of a homebody, you might have discovered the amazing world of online slots. It has in fact become so popular recently that recent stats indicate that casino game wagering in Ontario far exceeds that of sports betting. This is likely due to the incredible range of online slot games available to play any time from your PC or mobile device. But with all these choices, where do you even start? We asked Gayle Mitchell from SlotsOnlineCanada to find out which are the popular slots games being currently played in Ontario.

Maple Moolah

This Microgaming title is an Ontario-exclusive progressive jackpot slot set in a gold steampunk factory. Only players from the province have access to this unique-looking game, which collects portions of players’ bets to fuel four progressive prizes. If you’ve ever played any of the Mega Moolah games, you will know what you’re in for, a potentially life-changing jackpot and other rewarding bonus features too.

The free spins round comes with a 3x multiplier, but the main attraction is the progressive jackpot. The jackpot wheel can randomly activate during the base game and spins once to award you the Mini, Minor, Major, or Mega jackpot. The Mega will be the one you’re after because it seeds at an astonishing $1 million.

Sweet Bonanza

Surround yourself with juicy fruit and sweet treats in this 6-reel slot by Pragmatic Play. This colourful title is set in a magical candy land with classic fruit machine icons and sugary goodies as symbols. The cluster pays mechanic gives you wins when you land 8 or more matching symbols in a group and the Tumble mechanic whisks away any winning symbol combos, letting more fall in their place and possibly giving you multiple wins from a single spin.

It takes four lollipop scatters to activate the free spins round, and once it gets going, multipliers worth 100x can randomly appear, for a boost that can get you prizes worth over $2.6 million from a single spin.

Book of Dead

Play’n GO’s go-to man of action, Rich Wilde, stars in another prize-filled adventure, this time in the mystical sands of Egypt, where ancient gods and golden treasures wait for you to discover them. This 5-reel slot is highly volatile and promises a top possible win of $250,000.

As with all “Book of” games, the wild and scatter are combined into a special book symbol that stands in for any other symbol while also letting you trigger free spins. Landing three books will get you 10 free spins where a random symbol is given a special ability. While the feature is active, this symbol will expand to cover whatever reel it lands on to make your chances of getting a big win much higher. There is also an optional Gamble feature that lets you put your winnings on the line and potentially double your prize several times over if you can guess what colour a card will come up.

Thunderstruck 2

Microgaming’s Thunderstruck series of slots has always been popular with Canadian players, but Thunderstruck 2 seems to have grabbed the nation’s imagination the most. This Norse mythology-themed slot features famous gods like Loki, Odin, and Thor as symbols and their divine powers are what deliver the game’s $120,000 maximum win potential.

When lighting crashes on the reels, the Wildstorm bonus will turn up to five reels completely wild for a mega-winning boost. Land three Mjolnir scatter symbols and enter the Great Hall of Spins with four different free spins modes that unlock in sequence after you trigger the feature a set number of times. You can choose from Valkyrie, Odin, Loki, and Thor for up to 25 free spins and unique combinations of multipliers, random wilds, and Rolling Reels.

Raging Rhino

There aren’t any Rhinos in Canada, but you can still get up and personal with these mighty beasts in this classic crowd favourite, created by WMS. The sunny African wilderness is the backdrop for the 6×4 reel grid, with badger, crocodile, leopard, gorilla, and rhino symbols giving you the full safari experience.

You can land up to six diamond scatters on the same spin to get as many as 50 free spins. Your winning potential gets moved up a few levels while this feature is running, thanks to the 2x and 3x multiplier wilds that will increase the value of any wins they are involved in, with prizes of up to $250,000 possible from just 1 spin.

Possibilities are endless

As you can see from this shortlist, the possibilities are endless when it comes to the themes, features and winning potential of online slots. Some casino may offer even a no deposit bonus to get you playing, There is a wide world of rewarding entertainment waiting for you but remember to only play at licensed Ontario casinos.

Choosing an approved platform guarantees that your experience will be fair, and that your sensitive personal and banking info is kept safe from criminals. If you feel nervous about putting real cash on the line your first time trying a slot, look for a demo version on slot sites that will give you free credits to test drive just about any slot of your choice.

  1. Is there some way of consolidating your emails? Rather than receiving numerous emails, based upon separate headlines, can I change the settings somewhere so I only receive one consolidated email? Otherwise, I will be forced to unsubscribe. I definitely do not want to receive so many repetitive emails. Please advise if there is some way of changing the content delivery method. Thank you.

    1. Thanks for writing in. I do understand your frustration, and there is a way via a Newsletter, which unfortunately, we do not yet publish. The present system is automated, while a Newletter will take manual effort and extra cost. However, we will explore the option.
