Durham Police seized a firearm during a proactive traffic stop in Whitby.
On Wednesday, February 5 at about 11:40 pm, members of Central West Division reported they were proactively patrolling the area of Thickson Road and Taunton Road East. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a southbound sedan and while speaking with the occupants, detected an odour of cannabis.
Further investigation resulted in the search of the vehicle and occupants, where a firearm, ammunition and drugs were seized.
A 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, both from Whitby, and a 20-year-old from Scugog, were all charged and held for bail hearings. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
