As winter and snowy conditions are on the way, Durham teams are ready to respond to snow and winter weather to help keep everyone safe while heading outside.
The region’s municipalities provide essential winter response services before, during and after a snowfall, including maintaining roads, sidewalks, trails, emergency access roads, parking lots and school crossings.
The Town of Ajax said although months on preparation and planning is invested into winter control responses, the town’s program officially commences annually on November 15, which includes proactive patrols for vehicles parked on the street during an inclement weather event.
Ajax tips & reminders:
- Vehicles may not be parked on-street during winter storm events. Parked vehicles may be subject to fines and/or towing at the owner’s expense.
- Occasional-use parking permits are invalid in the event of incoming or active inclement weather.
- To give plows a lot of room, ensure your vehicle is not hanging onto the road. Any vehicle hanging onto the roadway may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
- Ice and snow must be removed from the sidewalk surrounding your home, within 24 hours of a snowfall.
