Project Kingmaker zeroes in on car- hacker-jacker

Durham Police yesterday said a Clarington male is facing 23 charges after a search warrant was executed.

Investigators from East Division have been involved in a five-month long project aimed at vehicle thefts.

The subject of the Project Kingmaker investigation was targeting high-end vehicles, including Chevrolet Tahoes, Chevrolet Suburbans, and GMC Yukons, all parked in residential areas. He gained access to these vehicles by hacking the programming that is incorporated into the vehicle computers, said a police statement.

The 24-year old is facing 23 charges and was held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
