The City of Oshawa has announced that construction is officially underway on the new Bond Simcoe Urban Square in the downtown core.
The location is at the intersection of Bond Street East and Simcoe Street North.
According to the city, the square is designed to serve as a central gathering space for community celebrations and events. Current work includes demolition, site excavation, underground service preparations, and the installation of a granular base.
Upcoming phases of the project will see hardscaping, site furnishings, planting, and lighting installed.
Construction is expected to be completed by fall, the city said.
A public sculpture is planned for installation in the Urban Square in 2026 as part of phase 2.
