16-year old skateboarder in critical state after being run over

Durham Police said a 16-year-old female is in hospital after being run over by a vehicle in Uxbridge on Friday evening.

On Friday, September 22 at about 6:25 pm, officers from North Division responded to a parking lot at 335 Main Street North in Uxbridge for a female that was run over by a vehicle.

Witnesses report that the young female was skate boarding behind a silver Dodge Pickup truck while holding onto the rear side of it, near the wheel. She lost her balance and fell to the ground; at which time she was run over by the truck. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, said a police statement.

The female pedestrian was in critical condition and transported to a local area hospital. She was later transported to a Toronto area trauma center where she is currently in life-threatening condition, it added.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation.
