Woman biker in trauma centre after losing control, crashing

Durham Police yesterday said a 34-year-old female motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after a collision in Whitby on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, September 23 at about 4:10 pm, officers from Central West Division were called to a motor vehicle collision involving motorcyclist at Dundas Street West and Swordfish Drive in Whitby.

The motorcycle was travelling eastbound when it lost control and collided with a vehicle travelling westbound. The female motorcyclist was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre where she remains in critical condition. The driver of the motor vehicle did not sustain any injuries, said a police statement.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.
