An 88-year-old male driver from Ajax has died after a collision in North Durham on Sunday, according to Durham Regional Police Services (DRPS).
On November 29 at about 5:40 pm, officers from West Division responded to Sideline 4 near Pickering Concession Road 5 for a single-motor vehicle collision involving a lone 88-year-old driver. The victim was operating a black Buick on Sideline 4 when the vehicle went into a ditch after the male suffered a suspected medical episode. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The collision was minor in nature, and didn’t appear to contribute to the male’s condition, said a DRPS statement.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
