Durham police re-arrest high-risk offender after safety alert

A high-risk offender in Oshawa, who prompted Durham police to issue a community safety alert after his release for breaching probation, is back in custody after violating a court order.

On Saturday, police sent out a community safety alert regarding the man, who they said posed a significant risk to the community, especially children. He was reported to have a history of multiple criminal convictions, and police planned to monitor his activities after releasing him.

On Monday, March 24, at about 11:40 am, the DRPS Offender Management Unit reported that they became aware he was breaching his release conditions. Officers located him, and he was taken into custody without incident.

A 45-year-old male from Oshawa has been charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the DRPS Offender Management Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5357.
