Clarington says work is underway to repair cracked, uneven and damaged sidewalks and curbs across the community as part of its annual sidewalk maintenance program. The project is expected to be finished by October.
The cost of the project was not announced.
The work involves lifting or replacing more than 540 sidewalk bays — individual sidewalk sections — along with shorter lengths of curb.
According to the municipality, roadways will remain open during the repairs, but residents may experience temporary disruptions to property access, including driveways. Anyone affected will receive at least 24 hours’ notice.
Clarington notes timelines are approximate and may be impacted by weather.
The municipality also thanked its summer students, who completed inspections earlier this season to identify sections of sidewalk in need of repair.
