Amazon to open new delivery station in Pickering

The City of Pickering yesterday announced that Amazon Logistics is to open a new 130,000 square foot delivery station at 1400 Squires Beach Road, Pickering.

It said the new facility will create more than 200 jobs (hundreds of additional jobs will be created via its Delivery Service Partners (DSP) and Amazon Flex programs, which will support and enhance Pickering and Durham Region’s local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The new facility is scheduled to be operational between late 2022 and early 2023.

Pickering clarified that this is not the same Amazon facility that was being planned at the Durham Live site. That facility was a much larger logistics facility that would have focused on sorting and logistics. Amazon decided not to move forward with that specific project.

This announced facility is smaller in size, will focus on ‘last mile’ delivery to the customer, and will be built in an existing industrial park.
