The Ontario Liberal candidate for Ajax, Amber Bowen, has committed her full support for the protection of the Carruthers Creek watershed by including it into the greenbelt.
She assured Ajax Mayor Shaun Collier that unlike the former Progressive Conservative representative of Ajax, her support is unwavering.
“As an Ajax resident and mother of two, I know first hand that the Carruthers Creek watershed is a vital part of Ajax and all of Durham region. Due to the sensitive nature of this land, we must immediately act to protect it from development. In doing so, we protect watershed’s natural cover, habitat and water quality,” Bowen said.
If elected as the MPP for Ajax, Bowen said she looks forward to working together with the mayor to advocate for its inclusion in the greenbelt so that “we can protect this ecologically sensitive area for the people of Ajax and future generations”, she added.
