Blowing snow and winds up to 60kmh for north Durham

Environment Canada yesterday issued a yellow snow squall warning for northern Durham saying westerly winds gusting 50 to 60kmh will redevelop Tuesday morning.

Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions, Environment Canada said.

For yesterday, it forecast, snowfall accumulations of 10 to 25 cm with westerly to northwesterly winds gusting up to 70kmh and snow squalls throughout the day.

As a result, blowing snow was expected to further reduce visibility. Winds will diminish overnight, although

Lake effect snow off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay was to develop last evening and continue through Tuesday morning before lifting north of the area.
