Buses to replace some Durham GO trains from April 8

Metrolinx, the operator of GO, has announced service changes starting today (April 8).

Part of the changes require replacement of some Durham trains by buses to facilitate Lakeshore East line expansion works.

“We are temporarily replacing some off-peak train services with GO bus service to provide more opportunities to make progress on important capital and infrastructure maintenance projects, so we can better serve communities in the long term,” said a Metrolinx notice.

It said:

  • On the Lakeshore East line, some late night and early morning train trips will be replaced by buses.
  • The last departure in each direction will be replaced by bus service from Sunday to Thursday.
  • The first four departures in each direction will be replaced by bus service on Saturday and Sunday.
  • GO buses will not stop at Danforth, Scarborough, Eglinton, Guildwood, or Rouge Hill GO stations.

“We are continuing work on integrating the Ontario Line, which will support significant service improvements on the Lakeshore East Line, and this work can only be done when trains are not running on certain tracks,” Metrolinx said.
