Clarington donates additional land to Marigold Hospice Care

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that it has donated additional land to Marigold Hospice Care in Newcastle.

It welcomes patients from any part of Durham Region.

Council received a delegation from Marigold Hospice Care, providing an update on successful operations since opening last year. The board identified a challenge with parking capacity for families and visitors spending time with loved ones in hospice care, said a municipal statement.

It said council directed staff to transfer of up to 0.50 acres of municipally-owned land to Marigold Hospice, subject to staff being satisfied that the transfer will not interfere with municipal needs or the property rights of others.

This is expected to support approximately 16 more parking spaces.

Marigold Hospice is welcoming referrals to its home-like hospice residence for individuals living with a life-limiting illness.
